Alexandre Barblan et Philippe May

Dear speed ski friends,
After ten years of racing on our mystique track of the Mt-Fort, the elements have forced us to officially announce that there will not be an XSpeedSki race in 2014.
The massive melting of the glacier the last few years has drastically modified the profile of the slope. The mountain as well as some isolated rocks have become more and more exposed, and have finally gotten to a point that it’s impossible to be covered in snow. The actual situation requires a huge investment of work that will be much too expensive and with no guarantee afterward to satisfy the level of safety to hold a race under good conditions.
The organizing committee warmly thanks Téléverbier, Verbier Sport Plus, the Destination Verbier-St. Bernard, the Commune de Bagnes and the Société de Développement de Verbier as well as all the partners who helped us during this great adventure. We would also like to especially thank all the volunteers without whom the races would have never happened, and of course you, the athletes who offered us an incredible show!
