I am Doug from the US, new to KL, but committed to joining you all in Europe next season.
I'm wondering about helmet shapes.
What are the theories of different shapes?
I welcome any and all discussion on the topic !

Thank-you - Doug

I have read the notes regarding changes.
I realize many details are unknown.

Does anyone have a sense - are we talking minor or major changes to
the aero shells after the new inner helmet is designed?

Will there be a common need/opportunity to totally redesign
the aerodynamic helmet shell based on the new specifications?

All thoughts are welcomed.

Thanks,

-Doug

Hi Doug,
Have you ever tried to fit a standard downhill helmet into a speed shell . If the powers to be decide we need chin protection (which of course we do)then you are looking at the average speed helmet looking like a oversize bubble. By my calculation we will need a measurement of between 46 and 50cm between the chin and top of head , as for the tail length who knows? the 40cm rule should work. We will have to wait and see what evolves.

In answer too your question, YES major changes. I would assume we can THROW away every helmet that is in use and start again. You may be able to cut existing outers in half and reform to fit the new inner.

or you could contact myself, Beat Engel, Nigel Brokton or any of the other guys making helmets. Stateside you could try Richard Landingham, sorry don't have a email for him he is somewhere around Bear mountain,ca. last I heard.

Like you say it would be great too be informed of these changes ASAP.

Cheers
ChrisG
